SPAM posts and Sun layoffs

Thanks to all my friends who have pointed out that my blog was hacked.  Its not a huge terrible hack so far (although I've sent a ticket to TypePad asking them to keep an eye out).  Rest assured that I neither sell fake Rolexes, nor am I peddling "sexual preparedness" (sorry again, Brian Aker).

Those that know me well know that I still have many relationships with Sun folks (hey, after 6 years its you make some friends).  Today some of my friends are experiencing a Sun layoff.  This is never a fun time, although it looks as if Sun read the manual on layoffs (Rule One: Don't do a layoff on a Friday...Don't do a layoff on a Monday...Wednesday is the best possible day to avoid employees going postal).  Some people are telling me they would be happy to get a package...others are going through the pain of feeling rejected by their mothership.  Not fun.  Please join me in wishing Sun employees departing today the absolute best next step in their path.

I thought the first thing in the manual is to state the company is going to have to do layoffs, but first there will be a round of 'voluntaries'; that is, give an opportunity to folks who have always wanted to go open that bakery or write that book, to decide now is the right time.

That is, minimalize the non-aquiesence.

Hopefully the brilliant peoples that move on, will go on to create something just as spectacular and ground shattering as Sun did...
